Hawkins Cove Restoration Project Update

Rain and freezing conditions did not hinder development at the Hawkins Cove Ravine Restoration Project in Annapolis, Maryland. During the third and fourth weeks of work, the crew was able to progress by pumping water away from the construction area and laying down sand bags to prevent flooding and erosion. During this time, riffles were laid down to the sewer line at the second tributary, and only a couple more riffles are needed at the first tributary before the crew can begin creating riffles down the main tributary.

At the beginning of the fourth week, concrete forms were installed around the sewer lines, so now the concrete is taking time to set. The only setback that occurred due to the weather conditions was some sediment flow. However, this occurrence was not due to a design issue. Regardless, the crew will now need to repair the problem.
