We live in Annapolis because we enjoy spending time in, on and around the creek. Unfortunately water quality tests in 2016 show that Spa Creek is an impaired waterway.
For half of last summer the bacteria levels in Spa Creek where above safe swimming levels. There wasn’t enough oxygen in the water to support aquatic vegetation, fish or other critters. Total suspended solids were above levels at which life in the water could survive.
We are making progress, slowly but surely and on June 12 and 13 you can help by making a donation to Spa Creek Conservancy during GreenGive, a 24-hour online fundraising and engagement-building initiative for 11 small, water-focused, environmental non-profits in Anne Arundel County. Its purpose is to both raise funds and expand residents’ and businesses’ engagement with local environmental organizations, issues, projects and actions. It’s the first time multiple environmental nonprofits have collaborated on such an event!
Donations made during GreenGive will be matched by a generous family foundation. Please consider making a donation to help Spa Creek Conservancy continue the work on cleaning the water in Spa Creek, restoring headdwater wetlands and educating the community.
Spa Creek Conservancy is an all volunteer organization. 100% of your donation goes to the restoration of Spa Creek.
