The Chesapeake Bay Trust has awarded a grant in the amount of $73,070 for support of the Hawkins Cove restoration project.

The Trust received a high level of requests, over $2,126,000 in requests for $1,042,924 available in this round of the Watershed Assistance Grant Program. This program is a partnership of the Trust, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, and the Maryland Department of the Environment.
The EPA funding comes through the Chesapeake Bay Implementation Grant program (CFDA# 66.466).
Hawkins Cove is a tributary to Spa Creek in Annapolis. The Hawkins Cove and the larger Spa Creek watershed is highly impacted from intensive development, high intensity turf grass usage, limited storm water management, heavy sedimentation, and extensive eutrophication. The grant from The Chesapeake Bay Trust will be used to begin restoration of Hawkins Cove.
