A mild February day proved perfect for a hike to the headwaters of Spa Creek. We started at the Weems-Whalen parking lot off of Spa Road, followed the creek through a wooded swamp all the way to Chinquapin Round Road and then walked back via paved paths. We saw evidence of beaver, deer, skunk cabbage, several stands of Bald Cypress trees and unfortunately lots of trash. Check out the map for the actual route and photos taken at points of interest.
