Annapolis will celebrate the 25th Anniversary of Greenscape on Saturday, April 23, from 9 to 11am.
Greenscape is a city and community partnership investment of beautification, clean-up, and planting in public spaces throughout the City of Annapolis. Since the inception of Greenscape by former mayor Ellen Moyer, hundreds of projects have been initiated and adopted by individuals, community groups and neighborhood associations.
The Murray Hill community will once again participate in this park cleanup and planting program, taking on an aggressive number of projects with lots of new plant material in honor of the 25th anniversary. Murray Hill Greenscape volunteers are needed as the group plans the following:
- Continue the work at Lafayette Park
- Continue work on the new rain gardens at Cheston Street End Park & Amos Garrett Park
Assistance is needed with basic weeding, planting new plants and mulching. If you can spare an hour or two on April 23 it will help complete these improvements to the neighborhood. Volunteers should contact Dirk Geratz at: dirk.geratz@alexandriava.gov
Also in celebration of the 25th Anniversary the newest Annapolis street-end park will be dedicated. The Shiley Park dedication will be held at noon on April 23, on Shiley Street, near Giddings Avenue in West Annapolis. Refreshments will be served.
